Cornish hake in lemon
Small batch British tinned fish from new Cornish cannery, Hevva!
This tin features meaty hake with lemon, sweetened with a drop of agave nectar, in a locally-sourced rapeseed oil. Hevva uses Cornish-caught hake in its tins because this white fish is abundant in UK waters. Hake is an equally delicious, sustainable alternative to cod. Hevva's hake is perfect for adding to pasta and salads - use the oil as a good-to-go dressing - or on a slice of buttered sourdough toast.
Like us, Hevva uses the Marine Conservation Society’s Good Fish Guide to determine which fish to work with.
Hevva! - Cornish for "Here they are!" - was the cry raised by huers, the fishermen stationed at hillside lookouts above the Cornish coast, when a shoal of pilchards swam into view. It was the signal for the townsfolk to man the boats and head out to sea.
The Hevva! range is one we’ve watched evolve from initial idea (tins steeped in Cornish tradition that sit well in city delis) to finished (on point) product. When Hevva! first approached us for tips on packaging and the kinds of products UK customers might enjoy late last year, we jumped at the chance to get involved. Today, we couldn't be more impressed with what Hevva! has created.
